About Us
Who We Are
CTM Magnetics services industrial and energy markets where reducing capital investments, equipment downtime, and power costs have high value. We remove energy pollution from 3 phase grids and motors with our patented inductor and filter technology. Our technology is protected by 38 issued patents with over 600 claims – with many patents pending. CTM’s Intellectual Property is manufactured in Tempe, Arizona in two facilities comprising 80,000 square feet, which are CTM owned and optimized to develop and manufacture CTM’s leading-edge technology.
CTM is a family-owned business whose owners have been partners for 32 years and together have funded 100% of the company’s facilities, technology, and staff. In addition to delivering quality products for over 30 years, CTM is ISO-9001:2015 certified and UL 508A panel shop certified; we have controls and approvals to create and build UL Listed cabinets and panels. Our CTM team is committed to innovation, growth, executing our promises, and maintaining our culture.
CTM’s team is executing its growth plan for pumping, compressing, propulsion, renewables, and energy storage markets and delivering on its brand promise of small, quiet, efficient, and reliable solutions.
“Power Quality…We Fixed It”
By saying, “we fixed it”, it means that we evaluated the whole problem and engineered a whole solution to meet our brand promise of being small, quiet, efficient, and reliable. Our customers don’t need to invest in engineering and cabinet costs to package CTM solutions.

CTM vs Our Competitors
The CTM Advantage:
CTM products include low-cost cooling systems, cabinet solutions, and use air and liquid cooling to remove inductor and filter heat from VFD and filter cabinets.
CTM inductors use magnetically isolated phases which add zero common mode noise typically eliminating the need for common mode filters.
Only CTM has full duty, full power sine wave filters for PM motors up to 500Hz; we enable high speed motor adoption by lowering capital cost and operational cost for PM motor drive systems.
Our Competitors:
Our competitors use magnetically coupled inductors (3 phase laminations) which add common mode noise and require additional filters to remove it.
Our competitors’ sine wave filter solutions for PM motor drives (high speed motors) increase capital cost and reduce system efficiency; a terrible combination.
Why We Do This
“Stop trying to make silicon steel ‘work’…CTM has solutions”
Line frequency (50/60Hz) vendors are applying silicon steel construction and materials to filter high-frequency harmonics; this is inefficient. CTM leveraged their experience and knowledge in high frequency, high power inductor materials and construction to create power quality solutions for VFD users. Stop trying to make silicon steel ‘work’ for high-frequency harmonic filters; CTM has much better solutions.

Our History
Our History
CTM was founded in Arizona in 1976 by a Motorola engineer who wanted to design and build line and switching frequency transformers for Motorola. In 1981, the company was purchased by its current ownership.
During the 1980’s and 1990’s CTM Magnetics carved out a growing business in line and switching frequency custom engineered magnetics. Our products used standard components available to anyone during these years; however, our engineering skills, customer service, and quality production team helped build the business to a sustainable level where investment in innovation was possible. Our markets from 1980 through 2004 were medical electronics, professional audio, battery chargers, and some military products.
In 2004, our product development engineers accepted a project to design an inductor on the output of a three phase, 2 kHz variable speed drive delivering 480 V at 1,200 A to a motor. Through a trial and error design method, CTM engineering finally conceived of our first THISS Technology® filter inductor design. The new inductor technology performed brilliantly under the customer’s 1,200 A test, and CTM Magnetics applied for its first patent.
